Hand 64

Image
Here is my hand 64!  This was a difficult drawing probably because of the perspective and multiple fine lines in hand. But I'm thankful I was able to find time to draw this today. Happy Presidents' Day and hoping you find some time today for friends/family/alone time...

Here is my hand #63, another attempt at using a thin black drawing pen. I am still struggling with perspective and want to continue trying to get better at it!  I like the feeling though of the dark outlined areas, it helps give the hand more strength and emotion.  I will probably continue black ink again next time!

Got through hand 62!  This was difficult getting the proportions correct and think I could have done better on it, but it's great practice so I'm happy I finished. I want to continue this black ink drawing, even if it's not my best skill, my hope is that my other skills will improve if this does. Will see what I do next...

Here's another try at black ink hand drawing. I feel this was a bit harder to draw, must be the shading and multiple lines. Not my favorite drawing but I'm happy I'm continuing my #100DaysOfHands project, seems like I still have so many to go (actually I do)!  Anyway may try colorizing the hand tomorrow...

Here is another ink pen drawing and I liked the perspective of the hands (coming at you and larger while holding playing cards). I see I still need work on perspective, but this is why I continue to work on drawing hands...It is interesting to draw older hands too, they really do have interesting form and feeling. This is the first time I've tried colored ink pen with the black pen—I can see how colored pen with the black will give the drawings a richer more artsy touch. I again am drawing on kraft colored paper. I think the end result is a nice crisp/organic hand drawing.

I thought this was a fun composition for drawing hands today—a unique placement of hands over the heads while one head is upside down!  This again was done in thin black ink pen. It was actually really difficult to draw and I know some things are not perfect, but this is why I want to keep trying to draw using the fine line pen to practice my technical skills.  Hopefully I will have another drawing in a day or two!

Hand 58 Drawing

I recently purchased Strathmore Toned Tan sketch paper and thought I'd try a hand drawing with black ink on it.  The paper says it's excellent for creating hi-lights and shadows. I think the overall feeling of the drawing here is more of a natural earthy feel vs a stark white paper. It would be nice to add white hi-lights into your drawings using this paper.  I also think it would be really cool to do a colored ink or colored pencil sketch on this kraft paper. I will definitely try different mediums using this paper!

I've finally come back to my drawing, it's been a year but I am the type that won't give up until this #100DaysOf Hands project is done!  I feel rusty but nice to be back... This is drawn with a thin black ink pen. Ink drawing is still a challenge to me because it feels a bit rigid, but that's where I think I can learn to be a better and more precise artist.  Also drawing in different mediums is good practice for anyone to give your art different feelings and textures.  Hopefully I'll be back to my daily drawing again now :)
