Water Bottle Sketch

O.K. I'm embarrassed to have not posted to this blog for so long – art is such an important part of my life that I just can't let myself slip away from it for so long.

Here's my continued attempt at trying to "paint" with pencil. Yesterday my water bottle was sitting right in front of me and I thought "why not"?!  And you know, the more I drew, the water bottle started to become more vibrant and interesting with it's purple glow, reflections and simplistic shape sitting on the table.

But more than that,  I was amazed at how such an ordinary object became such a rich and interesting sketch.  I started to think more deeply and thought of how water bottles have become a regular part of my daily life. I take one with me almost everywhere I go these days (in the car, grocery shopping, hiking, you name it - my water bottle is almost always with me).

Then I started to think even more deeply that besides the fact water is a necessity of life, it's symbolic of cleansing, healing (I think of listening to the waves or waterfalls), even happiness (swimming in the ocean, pools, etc.).  I'm sure there are a multitude of things water symbolizes, but that's what's kind of surprising to me.  The simplest things in life are often the most multi-faceted and necessary.

Don't know where I am heading with these drawings but hope to be amazed at the outcome and maybe I'll discover something that will benefit someone somewhere somehow.  And I plan on starting my next drawing tomorrow and not a minute later!
