Hand 96

Wow, I’ve got four hands left until I reach my 100th! It’s been quite the journey to get here. I’m thinking about how long ago I first drew a hand in this series and how different my life was back then. How time changes us, and art changes right along with us too. I feel my style has kind of shifted a little, not a lot, but some. It’s like I see things differently now than I did 10 years ago. Anyway, I drew this hand in Micron pen again and added color, which was nice. I like the composition here with the leaves and stems adding some organic element and pops of color. I’ll do my next hand soon and see where it takes me!

Here is my hand #63, another attempt at using a thin black drawing pen. I am still struggling with perspective and want to continue trying to get better at it!  I like the feeling though of the dark outlined areas, it helps give the hand more strength and emotion.  I will probably continue black ink again next time!

Puppy in a Blanket

This week I decided to draw my brother-in-law's puppy. This was the day they picked him up all wrapped in a blue blanket - SO cute!  He's a poodle / maltese mix and has has a nice temperament. I really have been wanting a dog for a long time but it just hasn't been the right time in my life for that.  I will look for a hypo-allergenic breed when the time is right. I've discovered a website called petfinder.com which has a huge listing of pets (not just dogs) for sale, and have heard good things about them.  For now I'll just have to be content with "drawing" puppies :( I decided to add a poll to my blog this week to get a consensus of how "green" readers have been.  Let me know how green you've been and we'll see how everyone's been doing in a few weeks.
